Case Study: Kāhui Whetū 2024 with Gore District Council

While winter nights may seem long and cold to some, for Gravity Events, they’re the perfect canvas for creating stunning lighting displays. This year, we were thrilled to partner with Gore District Council to bring the Kāhui Whetū to life with an extraordinary lighting showcase. Matariki is a special time for New Zealanders to come together and celebrate, and we were honoured to play a part in this meaningful event that brought the Community of Gore together

Transforming the Gardens with Colour

Our massive outdoor City Colour Wash lights (60x 15W RGBW) bathed entire trees and buildings in a pop of colour.  We haa a variety of battery powered lights (RGBAW-UV) in uplight and PAR form that give us all sorts of flexibility and using 42 on this event meant that we could highlight all the features of the gardens as well as provide ambience and safety.

Highlighting Iconic Features

One of the standout features was our Astera Pixel Tubes, which always deliver that "wow" factor. Our LED light-up trees were a social media hit, adding a magical touch to the event. We also wowed the crowd with a disco ball tree illuminated by Pointe 280W moving head lights, and an enchanting fairy light entrance tunnel (6m x 4m x 3m), which welcomed guests into a world of lights.

Sound and Power for the Event

In addition to lighting, we provided a sound system for clear audio throughout the event and ensured food trucks had the power distribution they needed to keep guests warm and fed.

At Gravity Events, we live for these moments of creativity, and we can't wait to bring even more magic to future winter events. Roll on winter 2025!
